Ilkeston is a market town located in Derbyshire, on the River Erewash. Historically, Ilkeston was an iron and coal mining town, also producing lace and textiles, like much of the area around Nottingham. Stanton Ironworks was a big employer in the area up until 2007.
Ilkeston is home to several local sports teams and the annual Ilkeston Charter Fair. A market takes place three days a week in front of Grade II listed St Mary’s Church.
Ilkeston is located in between Nottingham and Derby, and a railway station to connect Ilkeston to local towns and cities. It is also well connected by road, lying close to the M1.
